L. Joyce Mundy

About the Author

L. Joyce Mundy was born in the hills of Martin County, Indiana, in 1937 and was raised on a farm in the White River bottom lands near Clark’s Ferry. Though from humble beginnings she attended Indiana University and worked as an obstetrical nurse for 62 years at Dunn Hospital and then the Bedford Medical Center. During her lifetime she was a whistler, a painter, a fan of music, and importantly, a storyteller. Her fondness for narratives was always evident and appreciated by her family and friends. Thankfully, she shared her passion with local readers in SOUVENIRS, a weekly column of reminiscence and recipes she wrote from 2001 until her final days. The stories she collected in these books are filled with recollections of the past; of good times and hard times.
